Soil Carbon Project

Western Rother Catchment

We are pleased to be working with a selective group of local farmers, across a variety of soil types and land uses so that we may all better understand the environmental value of our soil, how we can best make improvements to it and the impact that has on the Western Rother.

Measure

Provide accurate measurement, mapping and interpretation of carbon stock

Interpret

Understand the relationship between Soil Organic Matter and carbon stocks

Improve

Build soil health and improve carbon sequestration and water quality through management practice

01 Provide a Basline

Measure current carbon stocks on farms under a variety of different practices and soil types

02 Look Beyond

Understand how much carbon is under 6m margins, wildflower strips etc

03  Scenario Modelling

Demonstarate how slight changes in
farm pracitce can influence carbon capture, soil health and water quality
